I would recommend anyone and everyone who wants a great night with family to come here. The staff there is wonderful as well.īeen coming here for over two years now (they are only off for a few months during winter but open on weekends year round otherwise and some weeks in summer). Coffee for adults and candy for kids in addition to an entire restaurant full of meal options all priced low. LOW priced extra large popcorn for only 5.50, giant 44 oz sodas for 3.75 and a menu two pages long of things to get. You get to be with family and spend quality time together and control the volume and temperature while enjoying great films! This cannot be beat these days at movie theaters. They earn the business.Īdditionally the pricing of the movie is so cheap at only 9.50 per adult for two movies in a night or 7.50 for kids. They treat you like family as well every time and will remember you and thank for coming. You get consistent positive happy and friendly vibes when coming here. They are a small family-owned business and it shows. New favorite family night activity.Ĭannot say enough positive things about this place. Another thing I didn't mention in my previous review was the cleanliness. I will DEFINITELY be coming back! This theater has such a family friendly feeling and I needed to applaud the workers tonight. The chicken sandwich was so good! I also got popcorn again and the brunette with glasses buttered it perfect! The brunette ended up giving me the order and told me to have a nice night. I wasn't even going to eat food I was just get a few snacks but I figured I'd give it a shot. The parking attendant even gave me some twine so we could watch out of the hatch of our trunk! This time, instead of going up before the movies started I went up about halfway through the movie, I was looking over the menu and apologized for taking my time and the tall blonde told me to take my time and even recommended the chicken sandwich when I couldn't decide. Once again, the same box office lady and parking attendant greeted me with such a great attitude. My last experience was a little different from this one and I thought I needed to re-write to give a shout-out. Tickets are sold as double features, meaning you can see both movies shown on that screen that night. This is my second time visiting the Stardust Drive-In. Tickets are now on sale for opening weekend and can be purchased online or at the box office. “From there our momentum goes until Labour Day pretty much,” Doucette said. While she said the weather isn’t great for opening weekend, she is confident the crowds will grow as it gets warmer outside, adding that the May long weekend is usually when it picks up. In Newmarket, where do you go other than the drive-in or Cineplex?” she said. “There was so much of that last year and the year before, especially when Cineplex was closed. However, when they were able to re-open, the drive-in created an opportunity for people to get out of the house, see a movie, and stay safe as you would be in your own car and therefore didn’t have to wear masks.ĭoucette said they were seeing a lot of people coming who said it was their first time ever at a drive-in. She said last year they were able to open in March but then a lockdown in April closed them down for a couple of months. I hope we get our full season,” Doucette said.Ī typical season runs from March to November, but that hasn't been the case in the last two years. “I don’t even know what’s going to happen in the next couple months, so I’m kind of just going day by day and we’ll see what this year brings. The past two years have presented a number of challenges for drive-in theatres that continue today. The number of new movies is refreshing for Doucette, who said “when the pandemic first started, movies were hard to get.” “And then some new people, too, but usually we have our core people, like 20 people that we know are going to come even if it’s cold.”įrom Friday to Sunday and then again on Thursday, April 7, screen one will be showing Morbius and Uncharted, screen 2 will be playing The Lost City followed by Spider-Man: No Way Home and screen three will show The Batman and X. “We’ll get our hardcore (customers)… I already know who’s going to be there,” she said. She started there when she was just 16 years old and worked her way up.ĭespite the wintry weather hanging around, Doucette is hoping they will have a lively crowd in attendance. This will be her 10th season at Stardust, which is located at 893 Mount Albert Rd. “We have a lot of customers that are super excited,” said manager Jasmine Doucette. After months of being closed for the winter, Stardust Drive-In Newmarket is opening for the season today.
